Achievements

• Community disaster mechanisms in place in 50 villages of Basti and Sant Kabir Nagar, which are among high disaster prone districts in Uttar Pradesh
• Community structures like grain banks, seed banks, fodder banks, etc. funtional to enable communities cope up with disasters
• 10 village secretariats formed and actively engaged in correspondences with local panchayats, media and government
• Over 600 SHGs formed all over the operational area; apart from their usual role in savings and credit, the SHGs are also engaged in social processes
• SHGs in slums in urban areas become aware of health hazard posed by impure water available to them and take measures to ensure clean drinking water for themselves
• People made aware of latest developments like National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and Right to Information Act (RTI)
