Rehabilitated in Her Own Home

Jyoti Singh belonged to a very poor family. Her father expired when she was five years old. Her younger brother is 14 years old and works in a welding shop. Her mother was involved in flesh trade. Two years ago her brother left home as his relationship with his mother deteriorated seriously. Jyoti casually went to the school and her mother wanted her to work with her in the flesh trade. Jyoti refused and hated flesh trade. Often the customers visiting her mother showed bad behavior towards Jyoti. They used to pass obscene remarks which were very embarrassing for Jyoti. The atmosphere of the home was greatly polluted in her mother always tried to push her in the flesh trade.

She narrated her situation to one of her friend Anju. She took Jyoti to her uncle, who was a lawyer. After hearing Jyoti's story he sent her to a government protection home. Here some staff persons from Pratinidhi visited the home to interact with its inmates. They were helping the support system of the home for the betterment of its inmates. Jyoti narrated her story to them and explained the trouble caused to her by her mother. Her mother visited the protection home many a times. She wanted to take Jyoti back to the home. Staff team from Pratinidhi Samiti went to Jyoti's home where they counseled her mother. She had left her old profession and now was working as maid in the nearby homes. Jyoti was summoned from the court. During her appearance in the court she was not permitted to leave the government protection home. Jyoti's mother was asked to apply a written application by the superintendent of the government protection home she would not repeat flesh trade in future.

The staff team of Pratinidhi Samiti took overall responsibility of monitorinhg Jyoti’s home so that she was not forced into flesh trade by her mother again. Follow up was done by the staff of Pratinidhi Samiti. The incidence was six months old. Till now no abnormality was observed. Jyoti Singh was successfully rehabilitated to her home.
